A week after my long boring post on why you have to login to comment, useful site Lifehacker posted an article on Eight Great WordPress Plugins, including pointing out that a comment spam catcher is built into WordPress and just needs to be switched on. Duh, I should read the manual or something.
So you can [...]

Yesterday the kids and I took a school holiday excursion to the National Gallery of Victoria. It’s free admission to the permanent displays and most of the temporary exhibits, so I figured if they got bored after half an hour it wouldn’t matter.
Wasn’t a problem though, they were fascinated and really enjoyed it. [...]

Somebody asked me, regarding my request for movie suggestions :
Do you get many people registering in order to leave a comment? (That’s not a rhetorical question, by the way.) I would have thought that would be a good way to discourage people from commenting.
It’s a problem – people will comment more often if [...]

In the middle of July, I’m going to hospital for the first time ever as a patient (well, other than the emergency ward!!). That’s right, never been in overnight, never had surgery for anything, never been under a general anaesthetic. A friend of ours had a funny t-shirt theme for his 60th birthday party. What was on his shirt isn’t printable on a family website like this. Mon and I made our own – you can get iron-on paper for your inkjet printer, it was like 1978 buying iron-ons of super heroes and [...]

Most famous people chose to be famous. Whether they lust for attention or just see it as an easy way of getting rich, they are cashing in on the publicity. They then shouldn’t complain when people criticise them or their actions, they made the choice and in taking that position in popular culture they [...]

I’ve been writing songs since I was 16 or 17. For many years they were terrible, especially the lyrics. Like, really, what was I thinking kind of terrible. It’s OK though, cos at the time I was also writing reasonable poetry, so there was hope for me as a lyricist at least. But [...]
